Demosthenes Agrafiotis (1947-2025)

Nov 28, 2025

This is a farewell letter to our beloved friend, the late Demosthenes Agrafiotis. With a noteable career as professor of sociology we crossed paths in 2012 when he had already focused on his intermedia artistic practice inluding poetry, writing, painting, photography and performance.

Introduced to us by artist @maryzygouri our first contact with his work was to develop his personal website – we still remember him showing up with multiple hard drives at a first attempt to index and display his large body of work.
Later we got the chance to design some of his books or prepare others for printing as he published frequently through @eratobookstore small french houses or by himself, always exploring languages (we have edited greek, french, german, english, spanish, japanese and chinese), formats and publishing platforms. It went all the way from octavo to epub.

Most notably we enjoyed The Salvation of Venice and e-Manuzio, co-created with @aprojectbyyan as we were offered more freedom to be part of Agrafiotis’ world from cover to spread and visual poetry.

We’re already missing his impromptu and unannounced appearances at the office, always accompanied by his postcards giveaways. As we haven’t put enough exposure on him so far it feels so odd he won’t get to read this..

Goodbye DaDa! 🖤
