Zigoala is a restaurant in Omonia built around food, memory and urban storytelling. Creative Greek dishes with Palestinian influences meet a space that revisits the visual language of the traditional Athenian taverna, not as nostalgia, but as a contemporary expression.

Sparked by an emotional remark by legendary rembetiko master Markos Vamvakaris and inspired by the story of the dark-haired Swede Singoalla, a narrative universe was created, bringing real and imagined references into dialogue. Athens becomes an island, its neighborhoods villages, and at the center stands “Zigoala, not a woman, but a lion.” Zigoala’s menus are objects of use and memory. The food menu is presented on stainless steel: cool, durable, honest, echoing the kitchen counters of old Athenian taverns. The wine list, bound in leatherette, recalls the worn ledgers of traditional shops. Typography draws from vintage Athenian signage, hand-shaped letters, stretched and adjusted to fit: imperfect, direct, alive.
